			<title>It&#39;s all about the content, baby!</title>

			<description>&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Zo, dat was weer eens een zware bevalling, zo&#39;n vernieuwde site. Waar wij iedere keer op blijven hangen (en dat zien we ook vaak bij onze klanten) is de content. Wat blijft dat toch enorm lastig om kort maar krachtig samen te vatten wat je doet en waarom je anders bent dan anderen. We kennen de regels wel van internet teksten schrijven, maar ze toepassen maakt schrijven alleen maar lastiger.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;h4&amp;gt;Verwijder &amp;lt;span style=&amp;quot;text-decoration: line-through;&amp;quot;&amp;gt;alle&amp;lt;/span&amp;gt; overbodige woorden&amp;lt;/h4&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;pre&amp;gt;&amp;quot;Get rid of half the words on each page, then get rid of half of what’s left. —krug’s third law of usability&amp;quot;&amp;lt;/pre&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Als we een uur de tijd hadden om een presentatie te geven, dan vermoed ik dat we alles wel redelijk duidelijk over de buhne zouden krijgen. Ook als we een 5 à 6 A4-tjes zouden mogen volschrijven zou het wel lukken. Maar die aandachtspanne is er vaak niet met presentaties, en ook niet met teksten. Zeker niet met online teksten. Bezoekers willen snel een indruk hebben, ze scannen wat, vinden wat ze zoeken, en dan is het oordeel geveld.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Nee, we moeten het echt kort houden, maar wel genoeg informatie geven. Lastig.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;h4&amp;gt;Vriendelijkheid vs. open deuren intrappen&amp;lt;/h4&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;De neiging bestaat vaak om erg &amp;quot;uitleggerig&amp;quot; te worden in site tekst. &amp;quot;Welkom op de website van..&amp;quot; is zo&#39;n open deur uit de oude doos, maar we zien &#39;m soms toch nog. Ook &amp;quot;klik hier&amp;quot; of &amp;quot;klik hieronder&amp;quot; en dergelijke instructies zijn veel voorkomende open deuren die zonde zijn van de schaarse ruimte, en voegen niks toe. Ze weten wel op wiens site ze terecht zijn gekomen, en ze weten wel waar ze moeten klikken (anders is er iets ernstig mis met de usability).&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;We moeten juist duidelijk maken waarom ze verder moeten kijken op de site, wat hebben we te bieden dat een ander niet heeft, en wat is er zo aantrekkelijk aan dat artikel dat ze verder &amp;lt;em&amp;gt;willen &amp;lt;/em&amp;gt;klikken. Moeilijk, maar effectief.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;h4&amp;gt;Mensentekst vs. SEO&amp;lt;/h4&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Google is voor ons niet prioriteit nummer een. Begrijp me niet verkeerd, Google is erg belangrijk, en we worden redelijk goed gevonden door Google. Maar het is een illusie te denken dat we gevonden gaan worden op woorden als webontwikkeling, online strategie, of zelfs webdesign. Die zijn - net als de zoekwoorden vliegtickets, email marketing, en alle porno-gerelateerde woorden - wel een beetje verzadigd. Dan zit je als koren tussen het kaf.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Met de teksten moeten we vooral bezoekers aanspreken, de zoekrobots komen vanzelf wel als de inhoud goed genoeg past bij wat mensen zoeken.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Alle regels volgen was moeilijk genoeg. We zullen vast nog het een en ander aanpassen de komende tijd. En nu maar hopen dat we de tekst inhoudelijk ook goed hebben aangepakt.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;</description>

			<title>iPad and iframe scrolling problem</title>

			<description>&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;So Steve has decided in his infinite wisdom that we don&#39;t need to &amp;lt;a href=&amp;quot;http://www.google.nl/search?q=ipad+iframe+scrolling&amp;quot;&amp;gt;scroll iframes on his iPad&amp;lt;/a&amp;gt;.  At one point in time, he deemed it acceptable to allow iframes to  scroll with two fingers, but apparently we are no longer deserving of  that luxury.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt; &amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;That leaves web developers in a tough spot. We had an app that implemented &amp;lt;a href=&amp;quot;http://www.google.nl/search?q=fancybox&amp;quot;&amp;gt;fancybox &amp;lt;/a&amp;gt;for  the add/edit forms. Our &#39;normal&#39; implementation of fanycbox is in  iframe mode, which meant that they were not scrollable on an iPad.  Changing the fancybox to inline mode solved the iPad scrolling problem,  however it broke all the refresh javascript we had set up. But with a  combination of inline fancybox and php level redirection, we got it all  set up.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt; &amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;h3&amp;gt;The case was as follows:&amp;lt;/h3&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;ul&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Our add/edit forms opened in a fancybox in iframe mode. Now that the internet is coming of age, so should  customer service. Especially for online businesses. Online, the old  adage has been upgraded to include everyone and, well, everyone. In  other words, when a customer is happy, they will tell everyone, and when  they are unhappy they will tell, uhm, everyone! 			<title>De knop van 300 miljoen</title>

			<description>&amp;lt;h2&amp;gt;Doelgericht&amp;lt;/h2&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Zoals veel van onze klanten al wel weten, hebben wij nogal een eigen kijk op de ontwikkeling van goede web frontends. Het gaat hierbij om eenvoud, nut, de kunst van het weglaten, &amp;quot;unobtrusiveness&amp;quot; en vooral doelgerichtheid.  Aan het laatste is wat ons betreft &amp;lt;em&amp;gt;alles &amp;lt;/em&amp;gt;ondergeschikt.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt; &amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Een webwinkel is gemaakt om een gebruiker zo snel mogelijk van punt A (binnenkomst op site) via punt B (producten bekijken) naar Punt C (afronden transactie) te begeleiden,  punt. Ja &amp;quot;duh&amp;quot;,  zul je denken , maar de praktijk is helaas weerbarstiger.  Veel opdrachtgevers zijn niet helder in hun doelen, veroorzaken &amp;quot;&amp;lt;a href=&amp;quot;http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feature_creep&amp;quot; target=&amp;quot;_blank&amp;quot;&amp;gt;feature creep&amp;lt;/a&amp;gt;&amp;quot; , willen teveel tegelijk zonder prioriteiten te stellen of hebben simpelweg een zeer uitgesproken smaak m.b.t. het ontwerp (&amp;quot;Jaaaaaa, maar dat knopje,  kan dat niet blauw en knipperend ? Dan valt het wat beter op! &amp;quot;of &amp;quot;Ik weet &amp;lt;em&amp;gt;zeker &amp;lt;/em&amp;gt;dat dat mooi is!&amp;quot;).&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt; &amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Veelal operationele zaken die niet relevant zjin, niet bijdragen aan het bereiken van het doel -of erger nog, &amp;lt;em&amp;gt;afleiden &amp;lt;/em&amp;gt;van het doel !&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt; &amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;h2&amp;gt;It&#39;s the user, stupid!&amp;lt;/h2&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;De gemiddelde internetgebruiker wordt zich steeds bewuster van de risico&#39;s die gepaard gaan met het achterlaten van persoonsgegevens op websites. Ze wil best wat gegevens aan de site-eigenaar afstaan, zolang ze er maar wat voor terug krijgt (kosten/baten). Tja,  een websitebezoeker lijkt soms wel een mens.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt; &amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;In het kader van de registratie van gebruikers is &amp;quot;haal zoveel mogelijk  blokkades weg voor de gebruiker !&amp;quot; een strofe die veel van onze  opdrachtgevers uit onze mond hebben kunnen optekenen. Het punt is dat je gebruikers niet moet vermoeien met een verplichte registratie puur en alleen omdat &amp;lt;em&amp;gt;jij &amp;lt;/em&amp;gt;graag je database wil vullen,  nee, probeer eerst eens de vraag te beantwoorden wat de gebruiker er aan heeft !  Is het echt noodzakelijk dat ik in een online schoenenwinkel een gebruikersnaam en wachtwoord moet aanmaken alvorens ik wat kan bestellen?  Nee , waarom?! &amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt; &amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Hoe vaak koop ik in hemelsnaam schoenen (ja ik weet het , dat zou in mijn geval wel wat vaker mogen)?  En wat was ook alweer mijn gebruikernsaam voor die site? Of was dat mijn wachtwoord voor die andere site... I just want to buy  something.&amp;quot;.  Voor bestaande klanten werkte het ook niet, want er was maar een erg kleine groep die hun gebruikersnaam / wachtwoord voor de site nog wisten : irritatie dus. Later, toen men de database van de website nader onderzocht bleek dat meer dan 45% van de geregistreerde gebruikers meerdere accounts had aangemaakt --&amp;amp;gt; we rest our case. &amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt; &amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;De oplossing ?  U.I.E. hernoemde het &amp;quot;register&amp;quot; knopje in &amp;quot;continue&amp;quot; en haalde het verplichte karakter van de registratie af (&amp;lt;em&amp;gt;&amp;quot;You do not need to create an account to make purchases on our site.  Simply click Continue to proceed to checkout. To make your future  purchases even faster, you can create an account during checkout.&amp;quot;).  &amp;lt;/em&amp;gt;&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt; &amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;<br />&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Het resultaat was een stijging van het aantal aankopen van 45%.
